74% of consumers want to interact physically with apparel before purchasing. Consumers still hesitate when it comes to online apparel shopping because of the inability to try on clothes before buying. This is why so many online-only apparel and accessories companies have been opening bricks and mortar retail stores by the thousands around the world. Shoppers want to ensure the clothing they buy will fit and look good on them.
Also, second, to oil, the clothing and textile industry is the largest polluter in the world. It takes more than 5,000 gallons of water to manufacture just a T-shirt and a pair of jeans. The industry is one of the top 3 water-wasting industries in China, discharging over 2.5 billion tons of wastewater every year. Traditional apparel manufacturing is wasteful and billions of pounds of apparel are burned, discarded, or offloaded to clearance discounters annually.
Made-to-measure (MTM) manufacturing will dramatically reduce apparel industry waste. By furthering the cause and increasing demand for made-to-measure apparel, PTT supports a waste reduction in apparel production due to more efficient manufacturing. This reduces the pressure the industry puts on landfills. The Environmental Protection Agency states that approximately 15 million tons of textile waste are generated annually of which 12.8 million tons are discarded. The MTM system eliminates excess waste by reducing ready-to-wear inventory and ill-fitting apparel.

PTT has developed a vertically-integrated, made-to-measure-as-a-service platform. PTT’s first brand, Ædelhard, which combines performance sports technical fabrics with classic tailoring and design to make the most comfortable suits and office attire in the world. The company’s quick-selling ready-to-wear line will soon evolve into a MTM offering which will allow customers to use the platform to self-body scan and shop for custom performance tailoring from shops in PTT’s autonomous fit rooms or anywhere on their smart mobile devices.
The platform leverages 3D body scanning to create a personalized avatar of the customer. The customer then chooses their apparel and sees themselves virtually dressed in their apparel choices. The ease-of-order, custom-tailored performance clothing is then delivered to the customer's door in about two weeks. Because the Company leverages AI (artificial intelligence) prediction, customers will continue to get the products they want when they want them.
The ready-to-wear Ædelhard brand (that is set to launch its MTM products in late 2020) has already generated substantial demand within the first few months of its launch. The Company will then develop follow-on brands, which will target the women’s fashion market. The Ædelhard concept can be further applied to the school uniform and plus-sized markets. The brand gained traction in the target market of professional, athletic men by leveraging the values, imagery, and community of the sport of modern gentleman: rugby.
